Digital Healthcare

The German healthcare system is going digital. Telematics (a combination of telecommunications and information technology) and the IT infrastructure used for this provide the technological basis for this change. The telematics infrastructure (TI) is a separate, protected network for the healthcare sector that will connect doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other players in the German healthcare system - enabling medical information to be exchanged quickly and securely by digital means.

In cooperation with two partners - secunet and eHealth Experts -  we are one of the first IT service providers to support the healthcare sector with their legally required connectivity to the telematics infrastructure. This is implemented with specially secured VPN (Virtual Private Network) access.

In recent months, we have developed a service package for VPN access under the "Mein Zugangsdienst" (“My Access Services”) product brand. This complete package includes all the elements needed: access software and hardware, user support via a service center and relevant logistics services. We operate all components and products from our own data centers in Germany. Currently we have more than 40,000 pre-orders for "My Access Service" installation packages.

In total, more than 180,000 doctors will use the protected data network for the healthcare industry. They will connect to the TI using an Internet connection via a secure terminal, the connector. The special VPN connector ensures secure encryption. With the VPN access service, doctors and other medical staff are able to use their practice software to exchange vital information. All master data is synchronized in real time with health insurance company's information. General practitioners are able to see which medication their patients are taking and what needs to be taken into account in an emergency.

By 30 June 2019, all German doctors' and dentists' practices must be connected to the telematics infrastructure. The deadline for advance orders of components without penalty is 31 March 2019.
