Gebr. Becker GmbH is a German medium-sized family-owned company that manufactures vacuum pumps. The group has over 850 employees at three locations and 16 subsidiaries worldwide. The company's goal was to consolidate the IT systems of all locations and subsidiaries. The major challenge was to unify the different IT landscapes and create standards that could be used in all areas worldwide. This is where Arvato Systems came in.

We are impressed by the quick implementation of an idea to the solution. It went so smoothly and we are very proud internally as a team that we can now help our employees simply and unconventionally when something is wrong. The fact that we have such possibilities gives us a completely different standing in the company. Azure Virtual Desktop has not been on the market as a freely available version for long and we are now one of the pioneers in the use of the system.

Project Overview

Initial situation

The challenge for Gebr. Becker GmbH was to offer the approximately 850 employees at the various locations a possibility for modern, efficient, and global collaboration. Networking was to be driven forward so that future projects could be controlled from the main location in Wuppertal and the subsidiaries. Global consolidation, primarily from SAP, was, , the focus of the task: Employees should have access to the same (SAP) data in one system from anywhere in the world and at any time so that no subcontracting or reconciliation of information is necessary. Analysis data from SAP's business projects, such as essential sales data, must be available to the subsidiaries so that everyone in the company has the same data status.

Vision

Becker GmbH was already well-positioned with its IT infrastructure but far from a uniform and consistent IT landscape. Standardization was needed. The original idea for this matured at Becker GmbH even before the Corona crisis: the installation of Windows Virtual Desktop.

Within a week, Arvato Systems was able to integrate the Windows Virtual Desktop for Gebr. Becker GmbH and make it operational. Virtual Desktop is the ideal solution for establishing standards in an unfamiliar environment and ensuring IT security. Becker's 850 employees can now collaborate more productively and efficiently worldwide.
